This piece was inspired by the novel Animalia by Jean-Baptiste Del Amo and by finding carpets of Clathrus archeri outside Bonn one year. I've never written "historical" fiction before, so of course the first attempt had to be about fungi. Thanks for reading & I hope you enjoy.
